Exploring the EDHEC Global MBA Programme's Revamped AI & Innovation Track
Find out more about EDHEC Global MBA’s revamped AI & Innovation track, which blends strategic AI insights, ethical leadership, and hands-on business applications.
The EDHEC GMBA AI & Innovation Track
The AI & Innovation track of the EDHEC Global MBA programme is undergoing an exciting transformation under the leadership of EDHEC’s AI Centre Director, Associate Professor Michelle Sisto. This track, which is one of the four major specialisation track options available to GMBA participants, promises to align with the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
The goal is to equip Global MBA students with the skills and strategic insights they need to thrive in an AI-driven business world.
The impetus for the revamp stems from the school's broader vision to integrate AI throughout the entire MBA curriculum. "Much like the way sustainability was woven into the fabric of the EDHEC Global MBA programme a few years ago, the aim now is to ensure AI is infused from start to finish," explains Professor Sisto.
Core AI literacy and strategic approaches to AI integration is introduced early in the GMBA programme’s general curriculum, and the AI & Innovation track offers students an opportunity to delve deeper and specialise.
"The EDHEC Global MBA is committed to equipping our students with the most relevant and forward-thinking skill sets to navigate today's complex business landscape. The AI & Innovation track is a testament to our dedication to integrating cutting-edge technology with responsible leadership, preparing our graduates to drive meaningful change across industries," adds Programme Director Sandra Richez.
""Any AI transformation requires effective change management and people management skills... we want students to get their hands dirty and understand what it takes to create a minimal viable product for AI integration."

Key themes of the AI & Innovation Track
In core Global MBA courses, a strong focus is placed on ethical AI adoption, ensuring that students are versed in navigating challenges such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, and regulatory compliance.
The restructured track focuses on three major themes that encapsulate both strategic and practical aspects of AI adoption in business:
1. Managing Innovation and Digital Transformation
This course remains a cornerstone of the track. Helmed by Professor Karin Kollenz, it provides essential insights into leading organisational change in the face of AI-driven transformation
.
"Any AI transformation requires effective change management and people management skills," highlights Professor Sisto. The emphasis here is on developing leadership capabilities that can drive AI and broader digital initiatives within enterprises.
2. Exploring and Applying AI
The track bridges the gap between theoretical AI concepts and practical business applications. Through interactive workshops and real-world case studies, students develop a deeper understanding of how AI can be leveraged to solve complex business challenges.
This component, coordinated by Professor Sisto herself, is a hands-on segment where students engage with curated online modules to build their technical and ethical understanding of AI.
The curriculum includes:
- Fundamental concepts of AI, including machine learning, natural language processing, and robotic process automation.
- Practical applications through design thinking, enabling students to create solutions that matter.
- Building an AI solution: "We want students to get their hands dirty and understand what it takes to create a minimal viable product for AI integration," explains Professor Sisto.
3. Industry Acceleration Project
Under the guidance of Professor Loïck Menvielle, students participate in an applied project sourced from industry partners. The focus has shifted more toward AI solutions rather than digital solutions, allowing students to tackle real-world business challenges using AI.
"The challenge now is identifying the right tool that balances ease of use with practical implementation," says Professor Sisto.
Why choose this Global MBA track?
With EDHEC’s strong global partnerships in the Global MBA programme, students gain valuable exposure to AI applications across diverse industries and international markets, enhancing their adaptability and strategic thinking.
The track is designed with a student-centric approach, accommodating varying levels of technical proficiency to ensure that all students, regardless of their background, can engage meaningfully with AI.
And unlike other tracks that are more sector-specific, this track provides a cross-functional skill set applicable to virtually any industry. "Regardless of the career path you choose, AI is going to impact your work," Professor Sisto observes.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
An exciting element of the EDHEC Global MBA track is the "AI & Innovation in Practice" learning expedition, which allows students to witness AI implementation in real-world settings. This immersive experience bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry practices.
As AI continues to evolve, so does the AI & Innovation track. With new partnerships, tools, and methodologies being introduced, students will always be at the forefront of AI advancements.
"Our goal is to ensure that our graduates not only understand AI conceptually but also have the practical insights to lead AI-driven initiatives," concludes Professor Sisto.
For students who are eager to future-proof their careers and develop a robust understanding of AI's role in business transformation, the AI & Innovation track offers a comprehensive and dynamic pathway.
As enrolment opens, prospective students are encouraged to assess their learning objectives and consider how this track aligns with their post-MBA aspirations.
